Undergraduate or Graduate Psychology Intern

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for two part-time undergraduate and recent graduate students in Psychology to join our clinical team for a 6-month placement, starting in Spring 2025. This role offers a comprehensive foundation in psychological assessment, treatment, and intervention for individuals experiencing severe mental health challenges and intellectual disabilities, under the guidance of experienced professionals.

This position provides valuable practical experience for individuals aiming to apply for assistant psychology roles, counselling or psychotherapy trainee positions, or further academic qualifications. Shortlisting and interviews will be conducted as applications are received, and we aim to make offers as close to the closing date as possible. All candidates will undergo an enhanced DBS check and reference checks.

Key Qualities

  • Summarising case files and preparing detailed reports for psychologists
  • Maintenance and familiarisation with psychometric tests, including administration under supervision
  • Conducting clinical history-taking
  • Note-taking and producing minutes during clinical assessments and team meetings
  • Collating and analysing data from Behaviour Recording Charts and Active Support measures
  • Collaborating with team members to inform outcomes and develop future interventions

What are we looking for?

  • Students working towards an undergraduate degree, or recent graduates in psychology, counselling, psychotherapy, or a related field
  • Proactive, self-motivated individuals with strong time management and organisational skills
  • A collaborative attitude and the ability to communicate effectively with both specialist and non-specialist audiences
  • Excellent presentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Responsible to: Patty Morris, Director of Care
Accountable to: Joshua Beckett, Senior Applied Psychologist/Psychotherapist

  • Registered Managers
  • Support Staff

Confidentiality
Due to the sensitive nature of the information collected by Treherne Care Group Ltd., you will be required to sign a Confidentiality Statement.

Expenses
Travel expenses to appointments will be reimbursed at a rate of 45p per mile.

NB: will need to have business insurance.
